PURPOSE
A chance to explore the daily navy life of a single sailor living on a naval base; attending school; being assigned to a ship; earning the designator symbol; and experiencing the merits of the sea.

GOAL
The participating sea cadet will spend two weeks living at Naval Station Ingleside (NSI); attend an abbreviated session at the Mine Warfare Training Center (MWTC); will intermingle with the crew of a Mine Counter-measures ship (MCM) or a Coastal Mine-hunter (MHC); experience the procedure for designator qualification (PQS); to earn the designator symbol (NSCC Anchor Pertinence); and going to sea in the Gulf of Mexico.

Naval Station Ingleside is known as the Mine Warfare Center of Excellence and hosts the mine warfare fleet and the Navy school - the Mine Warfare Training Center. The homeport fleet consists of Mine-Countermeasures Ships (MCM), the Coastal Mine hunters (MHC), Explosive Ordinance Detachment (EOD), and the Helicopter Mine Countermeasures (HM-15) deployed on the support flat top ship and based at Navel Air Station (NAS) Corpus Christi. We will be working with many of these units and you will get a hands experience while completing your very own Personal Qualification Standards (PQS).

Activities will include duties aboard the ships - in port and underway. Training will include the Mine Warfare Training Center. EOD, DC wet trainer, fire fighting, helicopter ops, a tour of the USS LEXINGTON, and NAS Corpus Christi are all on our agenda. However, our agenda is very flexible these days due to the current world conditions.
